Experimenting With Editing

Hello guys!! I had some extra time to edit out some photos today and thought i would share them with you. These are photos i took in the past 2 months from different places but never really got the chance to fix them a bit. Yeah yeah, i know! The "no time" excuse. I had a lot of collage preparation stuff going on and hopefully i will be starting this fall! Fingers crossed! Alright back to the photos...here we are!!!

I'm working on more photos but these are what i got up to now! I took all the pictures with my NIKON Coolpix L330 and edited them out with an online program i found out about recently called pixlr. Hope you like them and i will be happy to show you more when i have some ready!! :)

Some Ideas To Get Started With Photography

Hello guys! So as a young photographer, i know the struggle of actually getting started. No camera, little editing skills and just no way of showing your work. Well thank God for you that i'm here to give you a few tips on how to get started! It's not that hard really, it just needs some time and dedication and if you're asking me..summer is the perfect time to start!!

You would think that a camera is the absolutely most important thing for photography. Well, you are not wrong but that doesn't mean that you need the best, most expensive camera ever made, to get started. When i first started i used my phone's camera! I believe it's the best and easiest way to start. Don't go and by a really expensive camera and then realize you don't like photography as much as you thought. It's best to start with your phone, get some experience, make sure you are serious about it and then go and get a camera.

The camera i use is a NIKON Coolpix L330 which is a simple yet very good camera to start with! The zoom is just amazing, quality really good and the price is just right! It's not that expensive so you don't have to worry about throwing away a bunch of money in case you decide you don't want to continue.

The best way to get good at photography is to go out and take pictures all the time! Find interesting elements, look at other photos online to get some ideas and play around with the settings of your camera! What i did was i found this nature trail close to my best friends house and i took her with me when i would take photos! It was nice to have a picture buddy who was also into photography! We exchanged ideas and it was so fun to just have someone to share it with. I found though that it was good to go by myself from times to times, not only because it was relaxing but because i could just be me and my camera being as creative as i wanted! Believe me, practice is the key!

An other thing that i found was really helpful is keeping track of your progress. Having a little notebook with you to write down a new idea you came up with, little tips for yourself you just learned or anything you want really! I found it was so good to keep my ideas written and so i could go back and see what i learned or any ideas of photos i wanted to take. What about even writing a blog!! It could be your online notebook and it's a great way to come in touch with other people who have the same interest as you!

So umm yeah! These are a few ideas if you want to get started and basically how i got started with photography! The hardest part about it is to actually get started, so go outside and let your creativity loose! I really wanted to write something inspiring at this part but you know..just go take pictures. DO IT! =D

My First Photos!

Hello guys! A little over a year ago i was "forced" into my first photo shooting and i never imagined that i would end up loving it as much as i do! Our teacher took us out in a lovely place close to our school and told us to let our creativity loose and just take amazing pictures. I took my phone and a while after starting it was almost impossible for me to stop. I still have all the photos i took and would love to share some of them with you! I know they are not anything special but it was my first ever try at photography and i can't say i'm completely disappointed!

And there we go!! Some of the first photos that i took! Of course i got a lot better since then but it's always good to keep track of your progress and make sure you are indeed getting better. I'm proud of the progress i have been able to make and i really believe i can keep it up. Photography is meant to be fun and relaxing and something you enjoy, you never should look at it as work or something you have to do. As long as you enjoy what you do you are doing it right! Wow look at me getting all wise and stuff!! Hope you enjoyed and felt a little better about your photography skills! See you in my next post! :)x

Some Things About Me!

Hello guys! First of all, welcome to my blog! :) I bet you are wondering who this girl is so i'm going to go ahead and tell you. My name is Irene Stylianou. I'm a 17 year old and currently live in Cyprus but i'm half Finish too! If there is anything i love more that photography, it's ballet! I've been dancing since i was 3.5 years old and can't get my self to stop. :p It's my only way to escape from reality for a while and loose myself in the music.

My passion for photography started just over a year ago when i was sort of forced into a photography class in my school. The whole year around i literally hated that class until one day our teacher took us at a place near our school and told us to take pictures of the place. When i finally got myself to start i just couldn't stop! I felt so free! My creativity at that moment just hit the roof and i had so many ideas of how i could photograph the place in unique ways. From that day on, i knew in my heart that photography was my passion and that's what i wanted to do. I set a goal for myself to one day be able to show people, the world in a way they never saw it before.

So now i found my passion and knew that i wanted to work as a photographer and particularly a landscape photographer but the only thing between me and my dream was my parents. I knew they would never agree for me to study photography and move to another country to make a career out of it and i was right. When i told my mom my plan she totally dismissed it and told me i should go get a dissent degree first and have photography as a hobby. Since i couldn't do anything to change their mind i started taking part in competitions, going out and practicing with my phone as often as possible and by Christmas i was able to get my first camera!! :D

I'm going to college this fall to be a Psychologist but that doesn't stop me from being passionate about photography. It's what i want to do and this blog is my way of doing it! I want this blog to be my diary of where i keep track of my progress, share and receive tips and ideas with other photographers and find people who share the same passion as me!  I hope you enjoy my little corner on the internet and get a little inspired to follow your dreams until the end :)

                                                                                                                           Love, Girl with a camera
